Ok, im trying to call my friend, and after one ring it goes straight to his answering machine...does he have his phone on off?

I've had this problem. If it rings then that means the cell phone is turned on. If there is no ring, then it is off. It sounds like the person is pressing the end button when it rings and directing you to the voice mail system.
