Yes, teachers need more appreciation.
As a full-time public school teacher for over twenty years, now retired, but continuing as a substitute teacher, I can say I feel better about myself as a teacher when I know the students, parents, administration, and community value the time, effort, and financial resources I spent getting my degree, qualifying as a teacher, and am now spending my time, effort, and financial resources teaching their children.
I am a proponent of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, the "whole village", spending time in the classroom, lunchroom, on the playground, in assemblies, and at school board meetings interacting with the children, teachers, and administrators to better understand what is going on in our schools. Perhaps, then, we can all "appreciate" each other more.

Teachers deserve more credit, i agree. Without teachers we would not have doctors or lawyers or the president for that matter, a teacher makes a profound impact in a childs life.

I appreciate teachers because I could not deal with that many mean *** little kids all day. I can barely deal with the three I have at home. Thank god for teachers.
