I just got my tongue pierced and people are telling me not to use alcohol based mouth wash. Why?

Will the alcohol based mouthwash harm me in anyway?

Because it'll sting like crazy. Of course you're already crazy because you just put another hole in your body, so it may not bother you at all.

because the alcohol is to harsh and will kill off the good bacteria in your mouth. a tongue piercing isnt as prone to infection as people like to think as there is considerable blood flow to the area so more often than not (imo) you've got to be a special kind of stupid to get it infected-usually putting dirty things (pencils-other peoples saliva-etc into your mouth or playin with it to much and causing tears to the fistula. Use a sea salt solution to rinse with, it can be bought at piercing studios as h2ocean or you can mix it yourself 1/2 tsp to a 16 oz bottle of water and rinse when you eat, drink-other than water, or smoke

have you ever put rubbing alcohol on a wound? yeah stings real bad so if you want to cry in the morning use an alcohol based mouthwash

No it doesnt burn that bad - i had to use Listerine thats what they told me to use - and it was fine - i put it in a waterbottel and watered it down a lil bit with water and it never bothered me - hell i cant remember if it has alcohole in it or not - do what the guys tell you to do where you got it done at! you need to use mouthwash with alcohol in it . who ever told you not to is not the smartest of people. if you don't use it your tongue is prown to infection . and because it is your tongue you need to keep it clean and free of germs.listerine or something will do the trick.
