i have a major bruise on my arm, it keeps getting bigger, but lighter in color and there is a horrible knot in the middle of it. My whole arm hurts and it appears that a vein busted, not a blood vessel, a vein. Any advice or help of what it is and what to do? Please.

I think you need medical attention. A vein is a blood vessel, just one that returns blood to the heart instead of carrying blood away from the heart.

Please go to a doctor or a clinic as soon as possible to have your condition evaluated.

well, when you first get a hit that could cause bruising you want to rub it really hard with your hand and get the blood flowing - otherwise you will end up with a knot in the center of your bruise and very bad dark colouring.
I got hit above my knee very hard with a base ball a few years ago - I rubbed it very hard for several minutes - even though it was very painful it was worth it. I didn't get a lump and it didn't turn purple. It only turned a little green and it healed really fast.
If you don't rub it out when you first get it the blood collects there and makes a lump and it will take longer to heal. You might have to just wait it out until it heals and the next time you get hurt remember to rub it out with your hand for about 5 minutes or so. Sometimes you can feel the lump begining to form from the minute you get hit - so rub it very hard so it will go away.

trying icing it first to numb the pain, then gently and eventually more vigorously massage the area that is discolored. From my experience this helps the blood to circulate again. the pain should then become nonexistent after a while and the bruising will disappear shortly after. hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!

if its getting lighter in colour that means its healing and the body is reabsorbing it. if it was still leaking you would know about it. it would continue to be red and would produce a large swelling. unless you have a clotting problem or are on medications like warfarin or aspirin to reduce your clotting, this is highly unlikely.

Please get to a Physician as soon as possible. That is nothing to mess around with, as it could cause you some serious problems! Go to the ER right now!
