1.6 million people are running pirate copies of Microsoft software
.06 million have alredy been tagged with WGA which places a counter in non volatile ram as a TSR when the counter reachs zero on boot up the user is asked to contact the company by telephone if not telephoned log on to XP is denied and the computer shuts down after 30 days the software is obsolete

I know plenty of people who have illegal copies of Windows XP. And now they're having problems with it because of Microsoft clamping down on pirated software.

I am and I updated a few months ago with that bullcrap verfication thing microsoft has.

I formatted and tried to update again and guess what? My verification doesn't work anymore.

I hate microsoft. I believe that this recent verification software will cause a change in the way the government lets microsoft handle it's business.

Its almost impossible to tell and you know for sure yours is not legit. The Microsoft WGA program will flag legit systems 5-8% of the time and NOT catch it IF multiple installations are on nearly identical computers

any one who have branded computer like hp,dell sytemax,acer,e machine etc. have genuine versio
any one who assembled his own or bought assembled coputer got more chance to have pirated windows

Not me. Not worth it. I don't care to lose my privileges or pay a fine.

Even if you did get away with using it for a while, you could not update.
