You mean like purgatory or limbo?
How about reincarnation?
There is the Void.
There are rumors of an Abyss.
There may be chips.
Edit for serious clarification: Bible describes three types of Hell.
Gehenna-basically a burning garbage pile
Sheol-basically a return to the dust
Shades-correlates to the Tartarus of the Greeks.
The boiling pits of sewage where tormented souls go was a later creation, and an exaggeration ad absurdum of Gehenna

I'm not sure that Heaven exists in the way most people understand it. Technically, Heaven is the place where God exists now. No where in the Bible does it ever say that we go to Heaven. Instead, the Bible talks about the pit, which is where we go to wait for the judgment day. The Book of Enoch, which is not included in the Bible, describes 3 pits--1 for those that are God's, one that is for those that are not God's, and one that seperates the two. The book of Revelation describes the New Jerusalem, which is a physical place on earth where all those that are God's people will live. This place will have no tears or sorrow and streets of gold!! The other option is for those that chose to worship the antichrist in the last days. Hell was created for Satan, the beast, and the false prophet. Those that take the mark and worship the beast will be cast into Hell for all eternity because they chose Satan. If you don't choose God, then you choose Satan. It's your choice.

Let me start off by saying I'm an atheist, I do not believe in god or the devil or heaven and hell. However I still have a scientific reason for believing that the human actions does not die. The energy that it used by the human body and brain is electricity. It is a scientific axiom that energy can never be created nor destroyed, it can only be altered. Since this energy can not be destroyed, it must remain. The only question is does that energy packet remained cohesive. I believe the energy packet does remain cohesive and goes back to the universal life force. When you go back there, you perceive what you are raised to believe or what your mind is capable of comprehending. We experience what we expect to experience that most of our minds are not capable of understanding the big picture.

Dude, no one can answer this question. Do you honestly think that anyone has been there and can tell you what it's all about?
Heaven and Hell are states of mind and being but not physical places that you go to. You can be "in heaven" or "in hell" right here on earth.
Most of us choose to be in a hellish state of mind and being because we're so miserable. Everyone's always trying to get over on each other and acting like they're superior to their fellow humans.
You come into the world with nothing and leave with nothing. Why do people grapple with each other over "things" that they don't deserve?
The meek will not inherit the earth because the aggressive Aholes (government heads, mostly) here take everything for themselves.

The Catholics (of which I am an ex-Catholic) will say that there is a Limbo for babies that have not been baptized and they will also say that there is purgatory for those who died with venial sins on their soul (to burn them off). However, purgatory was invented to help fill the bank of Rome by the selling of indulgences and the limbo thing was to help with their doctrine concerning baptism.
There is no other place mention in Scripture except Heaven and Hell. There was a place for souls before the death and resurrection of Christ but Christ emptied that place when he descended to preach to the dead and open the gates (He set the captives free).

Some believe that the afterlife is a way station to recharge and reflect before reincarnating again to learn more lessons, as well as to help those in need.

Hm, good question. Let's see what the bible says about this.
In Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, Paul compares what he has told about Jesus with the fundamentals of a house. Each Christian can build upon it. You can build with precious materials: gold, silver, costly stone, or you can build with cheap materials, just enough to keep you dry (wood, hay, stubble). It says: each man's work shall be made manifest. Fire shall test the quality of the building. If any man’s work shall abide which he built thereon, he shall receive a reward. And then it says in ! Corinthians Chapter 3 verse 15: "If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as through fire."
A lot of Christians think this refers to purgatory.

According to the Catholics there's Purgatory, where you atone for sins prior to entering Heaven.
