Looks like the piano and the flute are popular! It was purely voluntary for me but i taught myself to play the organ---yea, pretty boring but it was fun to learn.

Though i wish it was different. I'm envious of musicians, the ability to create music is wonderful and must be fulfilling. Only music can express the inexpressible sometimes. If i had a choice i would have learnt to play the piano i guess...

The piano, because I was forced to by my parents. They dreamed of me becomming a classical pianist, but I hated it. I had to practice four hours a day for fourteen years. However, the instrument I truly loved was the violin. I played for about a year through my elementary school music program. Unfortunately, my parents wouldn't let me switch, and so I had to give up the violin and stick with the piano. UGH.

I played the violin for only a short time, and then moved on to the piano. I so wish I had stayed with the violin, but do believe the piano is a beautiful instrument as well. :)

I started piano when I was 5. My mother had to bribe me with pets until I studied for 2 yrs, then began to enjoy it enough to want to do it on my own. I also played flute and later, piccolo, in the marching band, and piano in the high school dance band. Definitely the hapiest times of my elementary, Jr. and Sr. High school years were playing with my friends in all the bands.

Like most of us, I started on piano because my parents wanted me to. When I got to 5th grade, I chose to play the clarinet. I dropped the piano around then and concentrated on clarinet, all the way through college where I got a Bachelors of Music Performance on the clarinet. Then I quit cold turkey. The music industry is cutthroat. I miss it.

piano and trumpet, but I quit taking piano lessons when I got to 2nd grade because I wanted to take horse riding lessons.
I still want to play guitar or drums......
