I was told that the best fishing from shore in tidal waters is when the tide is changing, perhaps best when it is rising. I was wondering if there is a website or how to determine when the tide is coming in. Does it just happen gradually between high and low tide? Is there a drastic change in the rate of change sometime between high and low tide? Thanks in advance for the help.

go to a part of the river that is still water or it's called tide pools look at the bank see if there is any damp on the bank. that will show u tide, now watch the water at the bank for 10 min that will tell you if it's coming in or out. All rivers except one flow down. If u see the river flowing up manly at the mouth of the river that will tell u the tide is coming in

Normal tides take 6hrs(approx) to rise and another 6 to fall . They stand still for 20/30 minutes at both high and low tides. So each day the high (or low) tide is approx 40 minutes later than the day before. Ebb and Spring tides take longer to fall and rise respectively. They occur every cycle of the moon. Hope this helps

Lets go native and forget the charts. High tide follows the moon. It is the moon's gravity that causes high tide... High tide faces the moon and is also 180 degrees out. The tide is coming in when the moon is in the eastern sky. The tide is going out when the moon is in the western sky. The moon is a good visual clue.
Almanacs usually have moon info.
