It could be that they are using a salt filter instead of chlorine to keep the water clear of algae (moss). The algae you see in swimming pools can't survive in a pool with a high saline content.

I work at a pool that uses salt in it's water: it means that salt is added to the water to be broken down in to its 2 building blocks. They are Chlorine and sodium. Electricity is used to do that.

There are other salts in that water along with chlorine.

to me it means you are tasting the pool water--and that my friend is foul!
