i live with a herniated disc since 1981. my back do not normally hurt but i live with a constant pain (and numbness) on the outer side of my bottom of my left foot. every time i try to do something to get rid of this pain, it aggravates the problem area on my back (i guess) and my back starts hurting then. like the other day, i have swum a bit longer and played tennis afterwards (asked for it, obviously) and now my back is killing me. it is so stiff that my usual exercises won't help to ease up the stiffness. i cannot sit properly, cannot raise from a seat or bed. could anyone please bring some suggesstions for a quick fix since i have an interview tomorrow. i can hardly climb out of the bed in the mornings eventhough i have a very comfortable perfect bed for my back. this's been going on for about five days now. thanks very much

Hot packs, magnesium and lots of advil. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer, and the pills aren't expensive. You can purchase magnesium oil on line to apply topically, but that would be too late for your job interview tomorrow.

Do gentle stretching while on the hot packs too.

Quick fix:
Use a heating pad.

Sounds like the anticipated interview is manifesting itself in your back.
To heal the problem I need more info.
Do you use calcium ?
Are you male or female ?
Who is the pain you live with ? A spouse ?
Are you over weight ?
And so on.
