My physical fittness instructor told me that any aerobic exercise will help lower your resting heart rate. That is why athletes' resting heart rate is lower. You just have to do aeorbics for about 5 times a week. Jogging, cycling, skating, sparing...are all good aeobic exercises. Reducing stress may help lower your heart rate also.

Yoga would be the best way of lowering your resting heart rate. Especially the breathing exercises - by slowing your breathing, you can actually slow your heart rate. It won't be instant and you will have to work at it.

The best way to lower your resting heart rate is to be in top shape. Your body keeps itself maintained. If you are out of shape and over weight the heart has to work harder, Period. Good luck
