have a good talk with her about how drugs are bad for you, and that her boyfriend is not making healthy decisions and is also breaking the law. after that, nothing. he is leaving and they will probably break up when he finds some slutty, marijuana smoking college girl. just don't villify the boyfriend or you will make your daughter defensive and she will tune out whatever you say

At 17 you are not able to keep her wrapped in cotton wool, drugs are a part of society these days, no matter where she goes they will be in the back ground. If she is mature enough she will know how to handle these situations. Trust in the fact that she has been brought up to know right from wrong.

Well, since my daughter is a minor and I am responsible, she would be forbidden to see him. I would then get in touch with his parents and inform them about the pot smoking. I would not push any college right now.....I would wait and see. This kid will probably hook up with other pot smokers and druggies and she won't see him again. See, I have 2 daughters and one son. I would do that with my daughters and I would appreciate if someone told me about my son. I would practice what I preach.

Hmmm kick her little ***, but then sheds 17 and most likely will be 18 soon. Unfortuntly theres not alot you can do, unless you are paying for her college? If thats the case it should be your say where she goes and doesnt go.

First...I'm an imposing daddy...
at 44 I'm still fit enough to wupp a@@ on most 18 year olds.
If my daughters brought a dope fiend home...he'd quickly disappear.
but to answer your question...
I would let it be...
things change when you get to college.
If he's so flakey that he continues to smoke dope...he'll find someone else, impulsively quick enough...that wouldn't worry me.
And she will grow and develop as well.
Her feelings will change...and when she gets to college and sees how many mature, well centered, drug free men there are...she'll dump flakey dope addict like an old ash tray.
So what I would do is relax.

I would talk to my daughter and tell her the truth, that I didn't want her to date this guy because I don't condone the use of illegal drugs.

talk to her about it. tell her you disapprove that he smokes marijuana, it's not good for his health, and that you don't want her around/with him if he's going to do that.
make sure she knows how harmful it is. i guess that's it. sorry
