Nothing happens because there is no one to hear them. When people are praying at the time they are feeling like there is some one or some thing to hear there cry out for help but when nothing happens the let down, is much harder to deal with. That's why people need to rid themselves of Religion and the Bible and be a good strong person and your life will be more content. I let those things take away and ruin the last 50 years of my life.

It depends on a wide range of things, most times you may not find out till days later that your prayer was answered.

It also depends on truthfulness, sincerity, and compassion in your heart.

It depends on if it's a good thing for the Lord to answer or not, God may answer at a better time for you, then that moment.

It depends if there's greed involved, spiritual healing, many reasons.... I did have many prayers answered, some not, and some in it's right time.

sometimes you best be careful on what you pray for, at times it's very powerful.... I found out the hard way.

When you pray God is always listening and if he think it is something that needs to be given or taken or help someone then he will answer either directly by doing what you ask or by showing you how to get or do what you ask.
Also when you pray you thank God for for all he is and has done and will do. Pray to him to show him how much you believe in him and so you know that by talking to him speaking his word, and living by the Bible you know someday whenever your life on earth is done you will live for ever next to him in Heaven.

In most cases, nothing. However, the element of sheer chance gives many people the idea that prayer works. No one wants to face up to the fact that Jesus lied about prayer.

I've often wondered where the belief that Jesus will "consider" peoples prayers comes from.

If you read Matthew 7:7-8, Matthew 18:19-20, Matthew 21:21-22, Mark 11:24-25, Luke 11:9-13, John 14:13-14, John 15:7, John 15:16, John 16:23-24, Jesus clearly says that if you pray in his name he will answer your prayers, not that he will think about it. Jesus claimed repeatedly that he would answer all the prayers of the faithful who prayed in his name as a testiment to Gods glory.

Take John 14:13-14 (NAB) for example: And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.

"Whatever you ask in my name, I will do" is pretty cut and dried. There's really no room in that statement for error in understanding the meaning, nor is there room to interpret it as "Pray in my name, and I'll do what I think is best for you."

Now obviously Jesus can't answer every prayer that each Christian makes in his name. Aside from just being silly, it would create chaos in the world of, dare I say, Biblical proportions. So consider the following options:

1. Jesus lied. The church based on his life is a lie, and this falsehood has been passed on 2000 years too long.

2. Jesus told the truth, and it is a lack of faith in Jesus ability to actually answer all prayers that keeps him from doing so. The Christian faith is no longer viable in the eyes of God.

Either way, doesn't it seem like a waste of time and effort to continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah? On one hand, the myth of Jesus as the son of God would seem to be instantly invalidated. On the other hand, Jesus has clearly turned his back on the faithful for the last 2000 years. Christians must now rationalize prayer in order to ignore the fact that whether or not a prayer is answered, is sheer chance.

Might as well pray to The Cat in the Hat if you ask me. It's likely to have the same results. Well, actually thats not entirely accurate. A recent Christian study showed that sick people who knew they were recieving prayer were 70% more likely to have medical complications after surgery than those who either did not know, or who recieved no prayer. Make that out however you want to, but I would think it should be pretty obvious...

it depends on how strong your faith is. if you're not in a quiet state of mind then it can be superstition, but if you are in the proper frame of mind and you have faith, then you'll receive the answer. you know not when or how. and you don't have to be a christian to pray. there's no reason to beg or supplicate some far off diety in the skies somewhere, for that is superstition. you answer your own prayer via the laws of the subconsious.

in prayer to get in contact with God. It's just like talking to a good friend. Prayers can change things, sometimes just not as you expected or asked for. If this happenes you might find out in the long run that is was to the better.

Prayer rectifies the mind, but it does not influence the outside world. That would come from your actions that are based on that rectified mind.

you know even if you dont believe in a god that hears your prayers .. i believe prayer is never wasted
our thoughts can become actions .. so if our prayer is thought then it too can become action
our prayer is like an affirmation ... and like any affirmation our mind eventually listens
so whether you call it prayer ... positive thoughts ... affirmations
a prayer is never wasted .. whether it is god listening and answering or whether it is your own mind .. a prayer is never wasted
just my thoughts on this xx
