how do you know if a girl is just laughing and being the person she is or actually flirting? this girl is pretty shy

well...first...does this girl have a boyfriend? if not, then you probably have a good chance. everyone flirts. it's life. but there are certain types of flirting. has she made a move? have you made a move? shy girls usually tend to be themselves and tend to be nice as well. signs of flirting would be:
*trying to make a move
*laughing at every joke you make, even if it isnt funny
*sweet talking
*sitting close to you
*and being nice
lol it might not make sense, but i know. don't worry. sooner or later you'll know if her intentions were just for fun or if she really likes you. :-)

How do you define flirting? Laughing and being nice is the first stage of it all. Just try flirting with her and see how she responds. You already know she at least likes you enough to talk to you...

dude trust me...you will KNOW when a girl is flirting or is just being nice. it's something you can sense. whether she's shy or not....well, if she's a virgin it maybe hard to differentiate the too. If that's the case go for it and ask her out. what you gotta loose?

When is a person is truly laughing the laughter shows through in their eyes, reactions, and the way the chemistry is flowing. Is she is feeling you and your humor you will sense it and she will warm up to you quickly.
A fake laugh is detectable by observing the mannerisms when you crack jokes. Say something that you know is corny but may be slightly funny. If she laughs then she is being nice, if she gives you a smile with no sound then she be thinking about what you were thinking to say that. Then she is being herself.

Good question. That can be difficult to determine. You should ask her out. If she says no, then you'll have your answer. But, even if she says yes, you won't know whether she's being nice or really likes you. But, that'll give you the chance to talk with her and get to know her better. Then, you'll know.

I'm 46 and cant tell myself but a old girlfriend told me last night i wasn't aggressive enough? if she seams happy more than usual, and laughs more around you than with others, give it a try
