you're entertaining a bunch of people at your house, sometimes it's good to at least have a punch laid out - they're visually appealing and if made right, they taste great. I've served two punches before but they're based on recipes that are known:
Open House Punch
750 mL of Southern Comfort
6 shots of Lemon Juice
1 can of frozen lemonade
1 can of frozen OJ
Mix these ingredients first.. then chill it in your fridge. When it comes time to serve, add some ice, 3 litres of Sprite, and a little bit of Grenadine for colour.. you might also want to garnish it with some lemon, lime, and orange slices.
Patio Punch:
750 mL Southern Comfort
16 oz of Grapefruit Juice
6 shots of Limeade
Mix these ingredients in a punch bowl and chill it.. when it's about time to serve, add ice, a 2-L bottle of Sprite and some Grenadine. Again, you want to garnish it with some lemon, lime, and orange slices.
If you're catering to a younger crowd - Jell-O Shooters are always a good thing:
1 cup of Vodka
1 cup of boiling water
1 Jell-O package (any flavor you want)
Mix these together, then pour them into little plastic shooter cups - you should be able to get these at any grocery store. If not, sometimes department stores like Wal-Mart have them.
Other drinks like various drop shots (boilermakers, drop your pink panties, mountain dew, etc.) are kind of neat.. and the flaming sambuca (1 shot of sambuca lit up,) or a reverse drop shot Blue Bomber (blue curacao in a shot glass, placed upside down in a rocks glass, flipped back over - and if you're careful enough you can pour Sprite inside and the blue curacao won't seep in the Sprite.)
Hope this helps,
Enjoy
