We definitely need more books depicting children with special needs. I work in a preschool for children with special needs, and there is a huge shortage of books with pictures of children like the ones I work with everyday... ones in standers and wheelchairs, with patches on their eyes or with Down Syndrome. We need to make certain that these children can find books relating to situations they know first hand... not every family has a mom, dad, brother and sister- and not everyone looks like white, anglo-saxons with blond hair and blue eyes. Along with this theme, since families have changed so much, it would be nice to see some books depicting alternative families... mixed races, single-sex partners, etc. so that kids know that whatever their family looks like, it is OK.

I'm not sure if someone makes these or not, but books explaining how kids can clean something, or books that would make cleaning fun, you know with songs or something.

behaving properly, listening, not having temper tantrums, you can't always have your way . . . . just to name a few.
