When you spin around, you shift the fluid in the semi-circular canal in your inner ear. This fluid contains little crystals that, when moved over hair cells in the canal, stimulate a nerve that tells you that you are spinning. This neve is closely connected to some muslces in your eye which move in order to find some focal point during the spinning. When this is stimulated after spinning, you will see the eyes move rapidly to the side, called a saccade. Therefore, you eyes are actually moving after you've spun around frequently. You can observe this in a friend if you spin them in a chair for a few moments. When they stop, watch their eyes and they will report that the room is moving from side to side.

I don't know if you can do any permanent damage from spinnning (other than falling down and hurting yourself), although I suppose is possible to disloge of the crystals and cause yourself a permanent case of vertigo.

It is because the fluid in your ear is going all over the place. If you turn the other way around, it will make the fluid go the other wayand you wont be dizzy anymore. I learned this in dance.

there are hairs and fluid in your ears, and they always try to point towards the way gravity is. so when u spin they get all mixed up and they make ur brain think you are still moving. so yeah, if u do spin the other way it cancels it out.
