If you gripe and fight over everything that bothers you, then people will just tune you out because they will begin to think that you just gripe and fight over everything whether it's important or not.

If you pick your battles and only choose to gripe and fight over something that is really important to you, then people will be more likely to take it seriously and actually listen to you because you rarely cause a fuss over anything.

You have a choice to continue an arguement or fight with someone. If you know it isn't that important compared to others, let them have it or drop the fight. Continue to fight the battles that are important to you.
Example: Mom says do the chores before you can go out. Don't bother wasting time agruing about it, just do them. That is a battle to let go of. Mom will be happy and you will be considered a good kid.
Mom says you can't hang out with this person because they aren't suitable in her eyes. If you believe they are a good person and worth the effort, fight for them. Show mom why she is wrong about them. That is a battle worth picking.

That means some things are not important enough to fight about, so you pick your battles, let the little things slide so you dont look like a trouble maker, fight for the stuff that really matters & in the end you will have won the war, make sence?;)

basically, you can't win everything so prioritise the ones that you can win from the ones that you can't and channel more of your energy into the high priority ones. It's a bit like not spreading yourself too thinly - when you try to do everything, the quality suffers and you don't achieve the fullness of what you want or get the best outcome out of it. Some battles e.g. arguments, challenges, etc are just not worth it and can be detrimental to future relationships/friendships.

Somethings are important enough to argue about and some aren't. Also, whether fighting the battle will result in a win for you.

Exactly that, you choose the fights in your life and the reactions you take when confrontations arise. You can choose to battle somethings or not and just let sleeping dogs lye.

Decide what really matters...

For instance is it going to matter in 15 years if your child has green and red stripped hair today?.. Nope it's not, so that's a battle not worth having..

Is it going to matter in 15 years if your child gets drunk and drives possibly injuring or killing someone else or themselves? .... Yes so that is a battle worth having..

That means - don't get upset over small, trivia things as those stresses are not worth it. There are bigger fish to fry so to speak and getting upset over every small thing is just going to make you a very uptight, stressed out person who nobody would want to be around!
