I can tell you this much about yoga:
I am a very type A, driven, competitive runner that struggles with feeling like I am too slow. I started doing yoga 6 months ago, and I am astonished at the acceptance of myself I have gained and how much calmer and at peace I am.
Please try it and give it at least 6-8 sessions before you judge it. My first class was a real struggle because I didn;t know any of the poses and felt like a real dip, but I knew it would help me with my attitude.
INcredibly, the increased flexibilty has improved my running too. I wish you well....

Why don't you try zen buddhism meditation ? No, I'm not yanking your chain. I also have a stressful job and stuff like high blood pressure is the last thing I need when I have to keep my stamina. I find personally, that when I feel pretty bad I just go somewhere away from people, even if it is just for 5 minutes, it makes a lot of difference. There's nothing strange about it or esoteric. I've been doing it for years and no, I don't feel I have to travel to some Japanese monastery to seek some guru. The 'guru' is inside you. Good luck and I hope you find some of the solutions for yourself, that you are giving to the kids that you work with.

Irritable colon and ulcerated colon, are diseases that can be under control, you must combine, a proper diet, no gaseous drinks, like coke, for example, no acids like orange juice, or grape juice, no condiments like pepper, no butter , no oil with your meals. You can eat, chicken, eggs (not fried) , yogurt, milk without lactose, cereals, whole wheat breads, potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, papaya, banana, apples, pears, melon, peaches. A mild exercise like walking and swimming will help. Of course that yoga and meditation are of great help. Good Luck!

It probably won't help your physical condition, but the exercise and reduction in stress can help your mental condition...and dealing with pain. Try it, the worst that can happen is that you get some decent exercise and feel better :-)

Anything reducing tension would have to be good for the bowel. You might consider taking lactobacillus acidophilus pills and bifidus, two types of "Good"
bacteria that we must have to digest properly, speak with your doctor.
"Light on Yoga," BKS Iyengar, recommends different
asanas for different ailments.
