It's gotten too big to mess with. Time for a sermatologist to check it out. You may still have the stinger in the wound, (not too likely by now). You have not told us where you live so I cannot hazard a guess what the pest was. Some bites can fester, & grow for a month or more, Growing and necrotising tissue. (e.g. the brown recluse spider). It's not a black widow because you have no neurological symptoms. Plastic surgeons do the best excision work that leaves the smallest scars. Also pointedly ask for anesthesia, tell them that you are pain sensitve.
Good luck.

It could just be localized inflammation. Take Benadryl, 25-50mg. This will make you sleepy, so don't drive after. You can also get an antihistamine cream, like Benadryl or Caladryl. It should begin to resolve in the next 7 to 10 days. If it isn't open, don't open it. If it is clean with an antibacterial soap, like Dial, and put antibiotic ointment on it, cover with a dressing. If you should run a fever >100 or if you have increased pain, drainage or red streaking from the site you will need to see a doctor. The treatment for abscess start with antibiotics orally, sometimes by IV and topical care. Surgery is only if there is a large amount of damaged tissue involved without good healing.

If you don't know what bit you, you need to get it looked it. You most likely won't need anything more that it drained (which I have had done and isn't bad at all). If it is just a reaction to the bite, you may need something a bit stronger than an over the counter med.
Call the local hospital and there is always a help line nurse on duty. Tell her the symptoms and see what she suggests. Tell her you don't know what bit you.
Or go to www.web.md and type in the symptoms.
My best friend was bitten by a brown recluse spider. They are nothing to play with.
Stop being childish and GET IT CHECKED.

Since you don't know what kind of insect bit you, you should see a dermatologist. Some bites, like that of the brown recluse spider, can cause a serious condition if left untreated that can lead to tissue death and scarring. However, if it's nothing important, they can probably drain the abscess by lancing it instead of cutting too much. You're doing yourself a disservice by waiting to seek treatment.

Now don't be silly ,
go to the Doctor ASAP.
have the abscess drained and have antibiotics to clear it all up
Only way to go !
I know how painful an abscess can be , so i am very sympathetic ,
but without proper treatment you could get blood poisoning .
Go now to your doctor
You will be glad you did
best wishes

Please listen to me. The same thing happened to me and the insect turned out to be a brown recluse spider. If that is what bit you it will continue to erode your skin and it will get very nasty in a very short time. Go to the emergency room and have this treated immediately. This is not something you want to waste time in treating in the event it was the spider.
