Well, may people do not believe in the War In Iraq. People in the Army have the right to think what they want and if they oppose war, that is fine. They have a risk of facing the consequences if they abandon duty. Not every troop has deserted, though. You have to realize that. People have deserted from every army and every war in history. A number of them have faced the consequences. Ehren Watada should not have joined the Army if he was a war objector, although he may not have thought he would go to war. The government didn't put a lot f time into planning the war out and to become his rank, you have to be in the military for a long time. Back in the 80's, most likely when he began is when the US was not at war with anyone. Many people want to join the military for a challenge. Those people do not anticipate going to war. Some of the daredevils want to take an even bigger challenge and fight in a war. They view it as an act of bravery and honor. Those people do not see how horrible war is and most who experience war hate it and never want to fight again, like Lieutenant Watada. Many American troops are still fighting on the front lines bravely. One country cannot be judged badly just because there are some people who are cowards or if they are religious and do not believe in war. Religious reasons are important reasons why some people should not fight. I hope you see what I mean.

First of all they aren't "deserting off the front lines". Secondly, I'm not sure that this coward was ever in Iraq....unless I'm mistaken he just refused to go. He should be court martialed and imprisoned....for a very long time.

P.S. I believe any deserter Canada accepts should stay right there. Let them never step foot on American soil again.

I feel he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. I was in the military for 20 years. How do you join a military organization and be anti-war? I did not relish wars or conflict but understood that sometimes it is necessary. If it wasn't for them we would be speaking German or maybe even still be paying Britain taxes. You sign a contract, you live up to it. A person is only as good as his word.

This sort of thing happens in every war...Clinton was an objecter and skipped the country to avoid the draft.. look where he ended up. Then continued his disgrace while in office.

All wars have deserters. And F****** Canada had always taken care of ours. It is better that they take care of them, not us.
They do not have sympathy from my family and I.
They should never set foot on our soil again.
They need to just stay in Canada.

What are we fighting for? Who declared war on us? Why are our men dying over there? It's terrorist that we need to be aware of, and they're right here with us in this country. Instead of this war we should be putting all our efforts and monies in finding Bin ladden or what ever his name is.

He is a example of the spoiled and anti-American radical liberal left in this nation. I wish the would all run to Canada. Who need cowards and hate mongers anyway.
