Sorry, I think they are purposely not doing it on a school day.

You can of course still show your support, but you can't get out of school for it.

I haven't seen anything about marches in those areas, though.

I would also say you might want to put "backlash" and "immigrant marches" into your browser and see if it is something you really want to do.

For example, see this from the pro-immigrant LA Times prior to the May marches:

"
Within burgeoning social movements there are always differences of opinion as to what's the best way to proceed at any given moment. The more successful leaders of the great civil rights movement, for example, could sense when to push, when to pull and when to gracefully glide with the momentum. As a result, they made history while some of their more untethered rivals only made a lot of noise. Likewise today.

It's no accident that those pushing hardest for the May 1 boycott, many of them marginal protest groups such as ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), have never shown much concern for real-world results, preferring to act out their ideological impulses.

That's why the larger institutional players in the pro-immigrant movement prefer an after-school (and after-work) rally over an intentionally punitive boycott and walkout. They argue that such an escalation could alienate lawmakers and the public just when political sentiment is shifting more toward immigrants. The positive message of demanding inclusion in the United States would be replaced by a more negative and divisive signal."

Those would have been words to live by...

After the marches a New York Post pro immigrant columnest wrote:

"The only people participating in the political debate at the present moment who were overjoyed by yesterday’s despicable rallies were anti-illegal activists like Reps. Tom Tancredo and Dana Rohrabacher and behind-the-scenes Washington guys like Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies.

“Thanks for the boycott!” wrote a jubilant Krikorian. Jubilant he should be. The debate is moving in his direction at the speed of light. "

Who cares what the Mexicans do, just let keep marching and bring attention to them selves, the more they march the more pissed off the American people get.

would be interesting ,however, since our state, south dakota, doesn't like unions much, it would cause a lot of people to be fired.
