I like Panasonic electronics for this type of thing. I own two different Pana. cordless phones & they are great.
The internal battery won't last forever, & when it fails to hold much of a charge, buy a new one at Circuity City with a big mAh rating. Then you can talk for many hours without recharging.

I have had a Siemens 2.4ghz in the garage for 11 years, original battery, no problems. Have 2 vtech 5.8ghz in the house that are 3 years old and have had the batteries replaced(the originals were crap, lasted 6 mos). Don't buy a 900mhz they are crap.
