they are the same thing
Icing (also frosting) is a sweet glaze made of sugar, butter, water, and egg whites or milk, often flavoured and cooked and used to cover or decorate baked goods, such as cakes or cookies. Those seeking to reduce the fat or sugar content of a dessert will sometimes eat it with the icing removed, as it tends to contain much of this content.

No difference.
Regional Note: Although both frosting and icing are widespread, people in New England, the Upper Midwest, and the Western U.S. tend to put frosting on cake. In Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the Lower Midwest, and all of the South, the preferred term is icing. There is some overlap, especially in upstate New York, Michigan, and California, but the regions in which the two words predominate are surprisingly distinct. A few people in the South call it by a third name, filling, even when it goes on top.

one is 5 letters long, the other is 8 letters long
other than that....nada
lol
FROM THE SITE:
Americans tend to use the word 'frosting'. Other countries tend to use the word 'icing'. The name 'icing' probably has something to do with the fact that 'confectioners' or 'powdered' sugar is also known as 'icing' sugar. Hence, combining icing sugar with other ingredients makes an 'icing'. The fact is that 'frosting' and 'icing' are the same thing and food writers used them interchangeably.

Icings are sweet coatings for cakes and other baked goods. Icings have three main functions
*They contribute flavor and richness
*They improve appearance
* They improve keeping the qualities by forming a protective coating around the cake or dessert
There are six basic types of icings
Fondant-a sugar syrup that is crystallized to a smooth, creamy white mass.
Buttercreams- light smooth mixtures of fat and sugar. They may also contain eggs to increase smoothness or lightness
Foam-type icings- also called boiled icings, are simply meringues made with boiling syrup. some contain stabilizing agents such as gelatin
Fudge-type icings- Rich, heavy icings made somewhat like candy
Flat-type icings- Also called water icings, will be discussed more later
Royal Icing- Also called decorators icing or decorative icing.

They're the same...some people call it icing & some call it frosting. Sometimes it has to do with where you're from.
Somewhat like:
soda, pop or drink
sneakers or tennis shoes
"skippies" or "bobos" (cheap sneakers)
slacks or trousers (men)
pedal pushers or crop pants (women)
blouse, shirt or top
etc.
