There are multiple historical sources for his existence. Although I think you might be referring to the "Lord, Liar or Lunatic" conundrum outlined in C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity?

There are a great many people who believe in historical Jesus, but not religious Jesus. Of those who believe in the religious son of God some respect Jesus's political and spiritual teachings and admire his rebelious religious attitude and lifestyle, but disagree on whether he was "a son" rather than "the son" or do not perceive him to be the Christ. As many who follow the tenets of islam see him as a prophet, or many the hebrew orthodox merely view him as a false prophet. And, it is amazing how many Christains prefering a more conservative and exclusive faith do not follow his teachings at all ... yet Jesus said that there are many Christains that will testify in his name and he will not own any of them or their hateful works.

Granted, God becoming man is a little far fetched...but is it any more of a stretch than to believe in the miracle of existence. How many of us are our own cause? Think of the wonder and vastnest of the universe. Are any of us responsible for cresting a single grain of sand? Hummmm. We would do better to assume that if we indeed believe in a God, He is all powerful, and can do pretty much any thing he chooses, including sending His only begotten Son to earth to die for our sins. Why is that such a stretch? Don't you believe that you are deserving of God's love? If religions believe Jesus to be merely a prophet, wouldn't that make him a false prophet? Some organized religions are fearful of a Messiah who preaches love of all and hated of none. Inclusion and forgiveness of all and exclusion of none. Christians believe that all are God's children. And that the Holy Spirit resides in all of us.

Goodyisback2010 has a good answer. I may not agree with his thinking about not believing him to be the son of God, for myself anyway, but the reason Goody has a good one .....
He is telling you why he can have a split belief in him. Many people acknowledge that he lived on earth (too many references to him from various sources, not just the Bible, to ignore it). For example: the Muslims do not believe that he is the son of God but do believe that he was a prophet of God.
But, because of varying reasons, of which Goody's is one, they do not accept that he is God's son.
Personally, I believe both - that he existed and that he is the Son of God.

Easy....he was a proohet...do you believe in Moses and not believe he is the son of god. Do you believe in Noah and believe that he is not the son of god. Do you believe in Abraham and believe he is not the son of god.
God is not a human, he is not a physical being therefore will not bare children. If god had a son that means that he is more like us, which is impossible.

In Quran, the holy book on this earth since thousand centuries is saying that Jesus is the prophet of Allah, same like he sent Prophet Mohd. Allah says, He is the ONLY GOD, has no parents, NO CHILDREN, and Mary, (Maryam in Quran), the mother of Prophet Jesus was the modest lady on this earth that she was blessed with a miracle that he has a son without father.

uhm I believe that Jesus was a real man that at one point in time he walked the face of this planet because there is to much evidence to ignore this fact, but I don't believe in god and why should I? because of the bible? the bible is full of a lot of things that I am sorry to say but just aren't true, I stopped believing in god a long time ago, right around the time that I stopped believing in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny

Because you can believe that he was a man, alive and with much to say, but that does not mean that you have to believe that he was born of immaculate conception and that he was not only the son of God but also he Was God & the holy spirit and all that!!!! It can be a little far strethched for alot of people. Let people beleive what they choose to as others let you beleive what you want.

Easily. Some people just think he existed but wasn't the son of god.
As for me, I feel they are deluded, of course jesus did not exist.
