condensers filters electricity and also possess the capaciy to store an electric charge but capacitors holds or stores an electric charge temporarily, some capacitors cannot be used as condensers so they are not the same.

caps and condensors have always been refered to as the same as long as I can remember - a Condenser is an old word, and not used much anymore.... Capacitors can be plates interlaced such as on a radio tuner - I dont know if a condensor can be plates...
Good question, the prof may have something up his sleeve, since "condensors" is a term that I have not even seen in 25 years...
Good luck on this one...
The answer that all condensors are caps, but not all caps are condensors is interesting and VAGUE as heck - it is 1/4 of the answer, if it is true. Dont you hate it when someone gives you some flippant teeny answer with no details ? If you look at a magnetron in a microwave, you get a mechanical condensor/ capacitor/ inductor that oscillates the radiation from the filament at the bottom, up, spinning it ( mechanically ! ) until it is radar frequency at the top.
I am wondering if this type of device would be peculiar to the difference between the CAP and condensor, since the construction of the copper poles inside ( between two ring magnets at the bottom and top ) does not "appear" to be a typical capacitor.... Sorry, I don't have a degree in Radio Wave Guide theory....

Condenser is an older term or Capacitor. Some industries STILL use Condensers terms like the Auto industry uses Condenser for the "Points and Condenser" system. They come both Polarized and Non-Polarized. ----|(---- or -----||---- are the symbols used. Condensers were (or are measured) in MFD. The Capacitor is measured in uf. The Same thing, different age groups. Just like the term "Ground" to us was "Earth" or "Antenna" was "Aerial"

1. They're the exact same thing.
2. "Condensor" is the old and obsolete word for Capacitor.
3. Your professor is an idiot.

A condenser holds electric in a large charge to release when spark is needed for the cylinder to fire in any 2 or 4 stroke engine. A capacitator holds electric till some unsuspecting fool reaches into the engine and touches it to release a large electrical charge causing him to get an instant afro hairdo.

i'm not sure about electronics but in refrigeration the condenser goes in fron of the fan and the capacitor is on the side if the compressor and both terms are used regularly

some capacitors are polarized, that is have positive and negative terminals. Condensors generally have one lead and a grounded matal case.
