We have a cat,went away o'nite,cat peed/pooed on carpet,has anyone any ideas to solve this problem? Thanks!

All it took was me putting my cat in the litter box one time, and she never messed in the house at all

Carpet the Problem or Cat habit the problem?
for cleaning carpet... washing with vinegar first
then to get the bad smells out sprinkle with baking soda and vacuum up. If that doesn't get
rid of the bad smell.. Spray diluted vanilla on the spot that has the bad smell and that should solve the problem. To get your cat to stop doing the bad thing.. scare your cat with the Vacuum cleaner and pamper her or him with Temptation treats!

the only time i ever had that problem was when i had my male cat fixed and he was so drunk, he pooped on the carpet. was this a one time deal with your cat? has he/she ever done this before? the cat may have a separation issue and is showing what they think of being left alone. i have had my two cats since birth, as soon as they smelled the litter box, they knew where to go.

to rid the carpet of any odors, spray it with a mixture of 1 part apple cider vinegar and 2 parts water. blot the spot 1st, then spray, and blot again. it removes the odor so well, your cat will not pee or poop in that spot again. if you catch you cat doing the unthinkable, keep a spray bottle of water handy and spray the cat with it. it should help discourage bad behavior of any kind.

If it is a male cat you should probably get it fixed, that tends to calm them down. Otherwise, maybe it is rejecting it's litter box and you should readdress where you are keeping it and what surrounds it. Good luck.

Try crating the cat overnight
