Frontline Plus has worked very well for my dogs. Aside from that, you should rid your house of fleas by getting everyone out for a few hours and "bombing" your house with a chemical sold at most stores. After that, you should be vigilant about vacuuming every single day for quite a few days.

Fleas, yes they can be a major problem. Do you have a basement? They can set up camp down there too. Remember, and anti-flea product is going to be toxic to pets and humans so be careful with them and don't over use them and make sure you have adequate ventillation when you do and don't spray the house sprays around your pets. Here's what I have done to tackle the flea problem (and I've had my fair share of them). Some flea killers don't really kill the fleas they give them birth control so that the eggs don't hatch. Which is OK unless you're over run with fleas, then that takes too long. You want something that is going to kill the darn things... and fast.
To stage an all out war you have to be prepared. What you will need:
1: Advantage flea killer for your dogs (can get from vet or from 1800petmeds.com)
2: Raid flea killer plus carpet & room spray available at your local grocery store or Kmart
I have never used them, but there are also anti-flea chemicals that you can spray on your lawn. The fleas are probably coming from rabbits, squirrels, and other wildlife in the area.
For the dogs: Advantage flea treatment works the best from everything that I have tried over the years. It kills the fleas in just 12 hours that are on the dogs. Only use it once a month. Treat the dogs before you treat the house. Also, treat any cats you may have at the same time but use the Advantage flea killer for cats.
For the house: Raid makes a really good flea spray for the house that kills the fleas and the hatching eggs. Before spraying take pets and children outside and keep them there for at least 3 hours to give the fumes a chance to dissipate. Cover your food too. Spray your floors, carpeting and furniture where the dogs hang out. Don't forget under the couch & beds where the fleas will hide. It may take a week or so of spraying once a day but they will die, you just have to keep up with the hatching eggs. Wait at least 10 hours and then vacuum your floors. If you vacuum too soon, you will suck up the spray and the fleas will thank you. Also spray the vacuum cleaner tank before you use it (but not while it's running or it could catch fire).
Petsmart has a product for spraying the yard for fleas, I think it attaches to the garden hose. You may want to set off a part of your yard for the dogs so that you can contain the problem better.
If after all of this, you still have a flea problem you can "bomb" the house with a flea bomb from Petsmart. This is a major pain and requires you to shut off all of your appliances, put out your pilot lights on furnaces & other gas appliances (it is explosive and dangerous), and take your food, pets, dishes, plants etc outside for at least 6-10 hours. But as a last ditch effort it will kill anything alive in the house but the chemical gets into the air and gets on everything in the entire house. Use one bomb per floor.
I hope this information is helpful and if followed you, your home and your dogs will be flea free in a few days. To kill any straglers you can catch them and drop them into some soapy water, they will sink to the bottom and drown.

Lime your yard to control the fleas from out there. When you bath your dogs use some cream rinse on them. For years this is what I did with my dogs and we had very few, if any, fleas. Once the fleas are in the home you have a problem, either get a flea bomb and set out or if you can find some dyalisin(spelling is wrong and some states it's illegal to use) but it does work to rid fleas in your home.

I would use either Frontline or Advantage. I have notice vet try Frontline if the animal gets sick or does not feel well. They will go to advantage. This is for both dogs and cats. Believe it or not both products work from are experience.
We had a grooming shop. We were surprised when dogs started coming in with no fleas. We didn’t do flea dips after this product came out. They told use it was advantage or frontline

Try products like advantage, frontline, or advantix only use the advantix if you dont have cats. the products not only kill fleas but will also prevent your dogs from getting fleas in the future. they are topical medications that you put on once a month. you should treat each dog for at least three months in they are already infested with fleas. you also need to clean your house very well and vacuum as others have said. i would try dr's foster and smith to buy the products i believe it's the cheapest place to buy it. google dr's foster and smith to find the web site. good luck fleas can be difficult to get rid of.

I totally agree with you! I hate when people are so negative with people who are serious. Now down to business.
First you got to get some stuff to put around your yard. Seven dust has always worked well for me but you might have already tried it and didn;t work...in that case as your vet...he/she should know what would be best for you.
After you get the yard siturated, now your dog and inside of house...assuming dog has been in...
You could have a professional flea/tick dip done by a vet until you got the flea stuff under control you could also ask what flea/tick shampoo to get for your pet. I have always used MItaban Dip( it is for mange but its very effective for fleas and ticks too)
Hope i was of some help to you and good luck! Here is a website that might be further help to you.
1800petmeds.com
you can find stuff for fleas tick, yard and dog on there

Here are some good tips for keeping those pesky critters at bay!
1. Good nutrition. This cannot be stressed enough. Study after study has shown that fleas and ticks are not as attracted to healthy animals like they are to ill animals. Good nutrition means a natural diet of meat, bones, and vegetables.
2. Garlic. Depending on weight, your pet can ingest garlic and help repel bugs of all kinds.
3. ACV, or Apple Cider Vinegar. A splash of ACV in the water or in the daily ration can do many things (like garlic), and just one of those is helping keep the bugs away. Organic unfiltered is the best ACV
4. Herbal flea products. These include collars, sprays, shampoos, etc. Some typical oils found in herbal products are pennyroyal, tea tree, pine, etc. Halo makes a nice product called Cloud Nine Herbal Dip. It smells nice, is super concentrated to mix with shampoo and/or water, and is much safer than the traditional route. Caution - some oils, like pennyroyal, can be harmful if ingested, so keep the oils out of the pets' reach.
5. Vit B Complex. Bugs hate the taste of B1, or thiamine, in the blood.
6. a clean house!! Regular vacuuming can work wonders for picking up the eggs of fleas. A chemical flea collar inserted in the vacuum bag will kill the fleas/flea eggs/larvae that the vacuum picks up. Remember to vacuum under the bed, in the couch cushions, etc. several times a week - daily if you can.
7. Since ticks can carry diseases, there is a vaccine now out for Lyme disease.
8. Herbs like Fennel and Rue grown in the garden and placed in the house (like under beds, in blankets pets like to lay on, etc) are very helpful too in repelling fleas.

Here's what you do
treat your entire yard with flea killer from Home depot every 3 weeks that's the cycle of the fleas then go to a store and get like 3 boxes of borax and sprinkle it allover your floors and carpets leave it over night... i did that and it worked i got that tip from an OLD lady she had tons of animals... and then get frontline and apply to the dogs... you have to do this every 3 weeks to keep new eggs from hatching but it really works

wash the dogs with Joy dishwashing soap, it works wonders for getting rid of fleas and its gentle on the dogs. Get a large container of table salt, spread it out all over carpet and let it sit for a couple of hours then vacuum. I lived in the country and when the fleas get bad this always worked, thank great grandma!

Take them both to the vet or if he knows your dogs well just call & I am sure he will sell you good flea stuff. They sound like they are too badly infested to use OTC stuff. Also get house bombs that are for fleas, follow directions as for protecting fish, food, dishes etc. Then in 6 mths use a bomb again. I had this a few yrs ago it is a tough time to get rid of them especially if you have carpet We tore our carpet out & vaccumed at least 2x a day. Eggs can lie in cracks & base boards & not hatch for 6 mths.
