This is a very interesting question in that the god of the bible is presented as male.

In the old testament, he is depicted as a god you should fear. Given the flood, Moses suffering in the desert, Lot's wife being turned to stone, and the horrors that Job went through, "fear" and staying out if his way would seem to be the smart thing to do. This god appears to be impetuous, easily angered and although he may have created this world, he seems to have no problem destroying it if he feels he has been wronged in some way.

The new testament tries to show god as compassionate, loving and understanding of our human foibles. He allegedly sacrifices his own son so we can wipe our personal slates clean of any aforementioned wrong that he perceives we have done. With that in mind...

Perhaps the old testament god is the classic controlling, abusive male. The loving and understanding new testament god being female.

Both don't work for me for this primary reason. Christians have a tendency to cherry-pick between the two books to suit their purposes. If something terrible happens like 9/11 or Katrina, then it's the angry, wrathful god of the old testament who is showing you who is boss. It's those blasted homosexuals or fornicators who have brought the wrath of god down upon us. On the other hand, if something good happens, it's the kind, loving, compassionate god of the new testament that we should thank.

Both instances negate personal responsibility. Gender is moot by comparison.

God is everything!

If god saw the terrorist planning on committing a terrorist act, why did he not stop them? He had a plan that is why. He wanted us to bomb Iraq because he knew they had WMDs. He knew that when the war began Saddam would send the bombs to Iran ASAP. So go'ds ultimate plan is world war 3, the next coming of Noah's Ark is upon us...

I could be the next prophet if I keep talking like this. Too bad you can tell I don't have good in my heart, only God.
