Absolutely.

The vast majority of those in uniform are fighting to preserve our country, and to do what they think is right. Unfortunately, they are being given order by someone who proudly admits to committing war crimes (18 USC 2441) and who has shown no respect whatsoever for the constitutional values this country was founded upon.

Supporting those who serve shows respect for their commitment. But that respect doesn't extend to those who commit wanton criminal acts to further their own private agenda.

What do you mean by support?
That you want the troops to be successful in their mission, but you didn't vote for Bush? That's can be patriotic.
That you say you support them, but you really want them to fail and you're hoping things will get worse in Iraq and more troops will die so that Bush will look bad and Democrats will have a better chance in future elections? No, not patriotic.

Yes, it can be. However just remember the effects of your comments during a time of war. We are all about disagreement and debate and any citizen has the right to disagree with policies of his government and can do so without fear of being unpatriotic. The problem is that much of the opposition to this president is based on lies and misconceptions. Many publically attacking Bush are doing so with such hatred and anger that it is boiling over onto those serving their country. You must realize that there are different sources of information and opinion and not all of these sources have the nations best interest at heart. Once I determine that someone has taken up the banner of the radical left they lose all respect from me. They still have the constitutional right to free speech, that doesn't mean I have to like it. Remember what we are up against in the world today, and what the presidents stated purpose is. Remember also that united we stand, divided we fall.

Sorry Holly...I don't buy that most of your husbands brigade hates Bush. I know everyone doesn't like him but I think you are letting your own biases color your statistical analysis.

Yes the president makes policy and right or wrong the military puts into practise that policy and takes measures to achieve the aims of that policy. Unless the president is removed by legal means the military must obey his orders.Remember Hamburger Hill. That was policy put into practise. Support the troops, they just follow the orders of the people you put in charge. If you don't like what the troops are doing change or remove those who tell them what to do. Just do it soon.

I believe it is perfectly fine to support our troops and not to support the countries president. There is nothing wrong with it. I support my troops and everything they do and stand for (as long as it abides the UCMJ and laws) but I don't support the president.

So Yes, it is patriotic to support the troops and not support the president. And while he is the commander and chief, talk to some of the troops, even they don't support him. But they can't say anything like that because he is the Commander and chief. And he is not always 'their beloved'.

Very!! You don't need to support the President because he isn't dying or sheading his blood for you or I...the troops are. I might not agree with the political views of the troops either, but in their minds and many Americans dying for your country is the ultimate sacrifice. I prefer diplomacy and not resolving issues with the end of a gun or creating wars. That is ideology and does not have anything to do with being patriotic or not. It's sort of like, can an atheist love a christian if he/she doesn't believe in their God? Sure, why not? I actually hate this President and if I knew really knew some of the men and women in service I might hate them as well. But I respect their service and support their service, not their ideology. Loving the USA is different than loving your fellow man or woman. We're losing our freedoms, if we lose enough (as this administration wants) people will stop loving it. Then you are no longer patriotic. You need to love the country you live in. Bush is destroying that for many.

it truly is humorous! i'm going to wager you haven't any longer even study something by using Orwell. yet besides, the President, who thinks the form he swore to shield is a trifling "scrap of paper" (his words), is the treasonous one. And as for the troops... what's extra treasonous: To oppose a conflict the troops take place to be struggling with, or to deliver the troops into harm's way interior the 1st place under fake pretexts? you do no longer pick a decoder ring, you pick a intense college training and a few info of significant colleges. in case you do no longer recognize what meaning, verify a dictionary. Edit: You did no longer coach you study Orwell. You proved you knew the a number of titles and names of substantial characters, style of. You *asserted* which you have study Orwell. there's a distinction.

Sure it is! This isn't a country where we are forced to blindly support an elected official. The troops are only doing their job. Nothing could be more American or more patriotic than speaking your mind!!!

Yes it is. If the president is responcible for putting our troops in harms way for a pointless war, we must decide between supporting our troops and our president. I choose to support the troops.

I cannot imagine why someone would not support our troops. They are carrying out orders and we should be thankful for their service. On the other hand it is our duty to let our president know our feelings about his decisions.
