They probably didn't really exist, but early tales place them in the 6th Century. Some say Arthur drove out Saxon invaders once but was killed in another invasion by them. Arthur and Charlemagne were favorite subjects for chansons (songs) by medieval troubadoours. Sir Thomas Mallory collected some of the songs and did a prose book titled "Le Morte d'Arthur" in the 15th Century, so Arthur looks and acts like a man of that period, not 900 years earlier. Arthur is not in the Bible. King Arthur did not personally go on the Quest for the Holy Grail (a cup that Jesus used at the Last Supper and was used to catch his blood by Joseph of Arimithea). After all, he had a kingdom to run. Most of his knights left. Only Galahad, Percival (Parsifal) and Bors were worthy of seeing such a sacred object up close. Galahad died young in its presence, and it disappeared forever, so Percival and Bors returned to Camelot.

Never. King Arthur, Merlin and the rest of the Knights of the Round Table are purely myth. No Holy Grail, no knights, no Excalibur, no Sir Lancelot, no Camelot. It is just a good story.

Man, I hope you're kidding!!--They never existed---just ancient folklore from the dim English countryside---but a good story nonetheless.
