Atheists apparently think so. I am Christian. I can't believe how many atheists think that anyone who is Christian must be stupid. You give me an I.Q. test any day and we'll compare results against atheists.

I completely understand their arguments, and I can understand why some people would see more truth in atheism. But my arguments are also valid logical arguments. If they had the experiences that I've had, they would be Christian too.

Of course, there's no "membership" to be an atheist.

However, it's clear that people with higher levels of education are more likely to be atheists and agnostics.

Also, nearly all studies on the subject show an inverse relation between religiosity and intelligence (see the Wiki article).

This is just a correlation, and the cause for the correlation is probably multi-faceted and complicated.

So, no, there's no official test. Yes, there are dumb atheists. But on the whole, Atheists tend to be more intelligent and more educated than Theists.

Why do i feel strangely flattered by that question?

Serious answer: It's honesty more than intellect that defines atheism. If you can honestly choose to live a life without the safety net of believing in a supreme being, then you're in no matter what your IQ is.

If you're athiest it means you think for yourself and therefore are probably not dumb. Besides intelligence comes in many different forms. So honestly being dumb would be hard to define.

What does I.Q. have to do with it? Atheism is a conviction; not a belief and anyone can have a conviction...even you!

To my knowledge there is no IQ test. Anyone who finds it impossible to believe in a deity is automatically an atheist.

No I.Q. test - Athiesm is simply the belief in no God. There's no Church of Athiesm.
