i do. It wud be great for people everywhere to not be further than 3 miles from the cycle network. the network should be surfaced properly like tarmac on roads. Also every now and again there should be mini service stations/ rest stops with benches, drinking fountains, maps and bike racks. What do you think?

Yes, i think some of the city ones are a bit half hearted, all they do is colour the tarmac differently, they need to be safer and more dedicated and also not run out after twenty metres!

Yes, I agree with you. I try and cycle to work and there are no cycle paths at all on my route (about 6 miles). Half of it is along a canal towpath which is fine, but the rest is on busy roads and I've had a few scary incidents!

However, even when I have used dedicated cycle paths next to roads I often find cars parked in them or worse, driving in them with no regard for me or other less able cyclists (kids for example).

Yes I absouletly agree, I have found a cycle section in Shoeburness in Essex, now I think it would be Great if the Government was to adopt this idea across the UK, as it would cut the accidents on the road big time, as there is quitea few lunatics on the road now, mainly boy racers, and if we was to have a cycle network across the UK, we would be safe to come, and go as we please, cars are not the masters of the roads we all have rights, so let's see if we can all be treated equally!

Yes it is something that the government should be doing now!! The current cycle paths are rubbish and the ones on the road invariably have cars parked in them, pot holes or glass lying in them!!!

I cycle to work most days and have to do so on busy roads!!!

Great Idea, will the government fund it though?
Someone should start a national campaigne on this to get the government to fund it, it makes sence. Im in and i would make use of it, would be great if there were camping spots along this new cycle network.

Yes Yes Yes I have been in Germany, where there are fantastic cycle tracks, and the cyclist is respected. In the UK he/she is a target!

Not yet, only if more people cycled and not drove. Its very annoying when you're in a queue of 20 cars behind one cyclist.
