I had a Tequila Sunrise last night but I almost threw all stuff in my stomach out after just one sip of it. It's because it had a strange taste in it...I wonder if that's the taste of Tequila itself or the grenadine syrup?

That's the tequila all by itself. The reason why you had that reaction is because it was probaly cheap tequila. If you want to drink the stuff (which I never do for the same reasons), you have to buy a more expensive brand. Consider it like beer. You can buy the cheapest beer out there but it tastes like crap, when you invest in Amstel, or something of that nature, your stomache can handle it. The most expensive Tequila that I know of is called "Patron".

Tequila tastes like tequila. I doubt the grenadine's resposible for you hurling because grenadine is sweet. A lot of people gag at even the smell of straight tequlia though so I'm guessing Tequila just isn't your drink.

Grenadine syrup is what they use in kiddie cocktails to make them red and sweet. My guess is it was the tequila. Tequila is very harsh and has almost a burnt taste to it.

It was probably cheap tequila. I see most people here describe the taste of tequila as something that burns, only if it is cheap tequila. If you have a good tequila, it goes down really smooth. As for its taste, it tastes like tequila, there is not way to describe it.

Ultra Premium tequila is extraordinary, there are so many aromas and it such a complex spirit so each brand will have different characteristics. You have the basic aroma is of sweet cooked agave, but from there you have spices, fruits, vegetables... best thing to do is just try it... but go for the good stuff like Don Julio, Casa Noble or Tesoro.

I doubt it was the grenadine. You maybe just don't have a taste for tequila. I myself find it delicious, but I have friends who don't like it.

Top Shelf Tequila has no damned taste, once one has had a few.
Give me "rot gut" anytime. I love that taste.
Best with salt and lime, straight up. Not for "panty waists".

That would be unusal. Nothing else tastes like tequila. You have to try it by itself.
