I consistently get 1.34 to 1.46 in 1.5 volt AA batteries. They are new. Anyone have a similare experience?

I consistently get 1.5+ volts from new duracell alkalines with a Radio Shack digital VOM.

alkaline should put out 1.5 volts. rechargable (nicad) run about 1.2 volts.these are tipical of most batteries out there. running a load test will give you more accurate readings on a certain battery when its fully charged

New AA alkalines that are unloaded should be at least 1.6V & 1.65V is more likely. Of course, if you are drawing current while measuring, you can get a voltage that is much lower.

Typically 1.52V from my experience. But it also varies whether the cells are alkaline, general purpose, etc.
