These tubes connecting one side of your ear drum to the throat area usually get blocked when you have a cold, etc. When they are blocked, there is a pressure differential across the eardrum. Try "popping your ears" by pinching nose and pressurising ears with mouth closed--not too hard. If a mild case, you will feel air transfer and noises--sometimes will unplug. If serious and long lasting, need to see a doc. I had such blockage for 30 days once, coupled with fluid retention in the middle ear. In fact, the antibiotics just MADE THINGS WORSE. Have the doc do a "culture" to make sure it is an infection and what type, if he gives you meds. In my case, I had to wait till my body fought off the virus.

BTW, the above does not constitute medical advice. I am not a physician.

Good luck.

Eustachian Tube Remedy

This can be associated with sinus problems / allergies. I found it helpful to use a OTC medication, which goes by several names, but a generic brand is fine. Its ingredients are: acetaminophen, dextromethorphan HBr, and phenylephrine HCI. A brand name is Vicks DayQuil. It helps to dry out the sinuses, which relieves the fluid build up within the middle ear / eustachian tube area as well. It also helps to relieve the pain associated with the fluid pressure on the eardrum.
