Well, you are a foreigner trying to speak English. Wouldn't I, from California, sound like a foreigner in a foreign country trying to learn their language? Don't try so hard. Let the sounds of words come to you gradually. You will always have an accent of some kind, so what? We Northerners think those Southerners sound so funny and definitely from another country.
Congratulations on wanting to learn English. I suspect you are from Mexico or Latin America or such and I encounter too many who make no effort to learn English. They apparently think that Americans are going to hand over the Western part of the country to them. Oh they are so mistaken. Good luck.

Well franky, I can tell you that as an Ethiopian who has been to quiet a few countriesthat it can be hard to be the odd one out, especially if the media is determined to trash your country's image. However you should not let that get you down.It is perfectly OK to be different.Don't let people make you feel bad about who you are.Having said that if you just want to improve your english, I would recommend reading plenty of english books written on subjects that interest you. An electronic dictionary that can read the words out loud would greatly help you improve your pronounciation, I know it has helped me.Last but not least watch movies that use proper english.Hope I was able to help.BYE

I applaud your efforts. Language classes are important and good choices. The older you are the more difficult a task it is—but it is doable. There are language programs for computers users that will show a "native" speaker complete with a voice graph, then when you speak your graph is recorded and compared with the native. Another exercise is to talk into a tape recorder listen to playback and record again. I have a neighbor who had impressive results with the latter method.

Why would you want to sound like something you are not? Is It that you are too afraid to be yourself in the same way as you hide behind a grey face to insult people?why, if you are trying to speak english do you learn American anyway?.
What the hell gives YOU the right to accuse me of Narcissism you narrow minded jerk? Why would you assume I was American anyway, America is not the world, idiot...
