You need either the XP disc or the crash disc that came with the computer.

Microsoft does not ant to let people steal their software so to make sure they don't you must have a disc to download it any other way is illegal oh and System restore is comes with a standard installation of Windows XP. Individual Computer companies do not put that on. Also if yo decide to get a new one buy one at the store because if you plan on running win update it will find that you got it from a friend or got it for free from something [thats illigal because their just copying there code] and they will yell at you

Check the manufactures website to see if an recovery disk is available to purchase. Sometimes the recovery disk is on a separate partition on your hard drive,To see if if that is the case go to my computer and if another drive is listed with the next letter past your hard drive Usually your hard drive is C then the recovery partition would show up as a D drive.
To recover from the recovery partition when the system boots up press the function button that will start recovery at the prompt Usually F1 or F11.
This will format your hard drive, however the data stays on your system as a goast untill it is written over with new data several times. The best way to completely remove the data is to after deleteing the files overwritethe freespace and cluster tips 32 times with zeros. Several prograhm are available to do this are available. The one that I use is "eraser".
You can get a free download at this site http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/download.php

If your laptop is for example HP, they have special systems that re-install windows for you without a disc, when you press F8 just before the windows logo screen appears, otherwise I would reccomend that you give your manufacturer a call and explain the problem, they should be able to help. Otherwise there is NO WAY TO DO THIS

Your laptop should have come with a restore disk or system recovery disk and instructions for using it. This is actually either a copy of Win XP or a key to a hidden partition on the hard disk that contains the means to roll your machine back to the day it was new.

If you are asking ..can you install windows with no cdrom support?..yes you can. But you will need another computer with a cdrom using the XP disk to tranfer the disk contents to your laptop.

If this is what you mean I am happy to explain how. If it isn't what you mean, the answer is you can't reinstall without an XP disk.
