Logic and valid proof.
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

An open mind and an open heart gives me faith. You know you have something in your cupboard right? You can't see it but you know inherently that it is there. That is what it is like with God, you don't see him but he is always here. You have to open your mind and believe in Him first. Then He will reveal Himself to you in meaningful ways...ask Him to. I know that when I see an eagle or hear the words that He is near me....I was listening to a child say her a,b,c's once and smack in the middle of them she said "eagle" and giggled. I asked her why she said that and she had no idea just giggled and continued to say the abc's. Very odd for a five year old. Another time I came home and someone had left a bookmark with an eagle on it and the scripture from Isaiah 40:39. Ask God to give you faith and He will. Talk to him even if you think you are talking into the air because you aren't you are talking to the maker of all things the great I AM...remember the cupboard is full!

Hope, and observation of the results of faith. Remember, faith and religion are different. Faith is what you believe, religion is what you practice.

great question, and one without an answer. nothing makes you have faith. it is simply what makes the most sense to you -- based in upbrining, experience and to some degree your culture and your personality. it cannot be taught or forced on another.

My belief that everyone is inherently good, my (maybe misguided) belief that I can change the world and make it a better place, these beliefs give me the faith to move forward.
