Word will capitalize the first letter of each new line. I think you are hitting enter after every line for that to happen. Stop hitting enter after every line.

Word will put a capital at the beginning of each line. If you are in the middle of a sentence, just keep typing and do not press enter at the end of the line. Word will automatically wrap to a new line for you without doing a capital letter.

If you look under Tools then Options, you can turn on/off many of the automatic formatting features. Look under Spelling & Grammer. Turn off the Automatically correct spelling and that should stop the capitilizing. If not, turn off the grammer checking. Different depending on the version you are using.

I don't have a copy of Word to look at, but I believe it is in the autocorrect menu or tab. Look in tools, ->options for an autocorrect tab if there isn't an autocorrect menu. If you are running Word 2003, it will put up a small box showing what it has autocorrected, see if the box gives you an option to disable the automatic capitalization.

On the right had side of your key board you have a button that is named 'Caps Lock' click it off. That should work. When the light is on over the center number of rows on the numeric pad the caps lock is on when the light is out the caps lock is off. This should solve your problem.
Get the book or go to the word help tutorial site.
