laws of Islam? And why are the “peaceful” Muslims doing nothing about it?
I am a Christian, and if I knew a member of my church was committing hate crimes, I would turn them in to authorities IN A HEARTBEAT—even if it were my own family member. If I knew someone who was training innocent children to be HATEMONGERS, I would turn them in. If I suspected someone of planning a horrible attack, I would turn them in. I would not stand by and look the other way while people I know and even care about, are causing death and destruction. I find it hard to believe there are two separate groups of Islam—one “good” and one “bad” and none of them are related or know each other or communicate with each other?
I am so tired of hearing about “racial profiling” and how unfairly Muslims are being treated. It is not enough to say, “Not all Muslims are terrorists!”

Until I see some outrage and real action on the part of the “good” Muslims, I am going to err on the side of caution, and not trust any Muslims.

As I said, if I knew any Christian extremists or KKK, or any person committing any kind of hate crimes, I would immediately turn them into the authorities.

WOW, you are very wise in your views & I agree...all the worst terrorists of life right now are muslim & while I never hate anyone, I don't trust those who support other muslims or make excuses for what they do. Wish too muslims would get off the Whine Wagon & realize it's Islam extremist who make for the mistrust of them all, as they continually scream Death to all Infidels aka non muslims !

You've made a general statement that isn't supportable. While a significant fraction of what is reported recently has to deal with terrorist who happen to be Muslim (which is a different concept from Muslim terrorists), there are plenty of "terrorist" groups that are or were not associated witn Islam.
As a previous respondent mentioned, there are a number of Christian-inspired organizations that may be classified as terrorists. Certainly, the former action arms of both the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland would have qualified as terrorist groups. Also, there are groups that are not associated with any religion that see disruption of the current order as a good thing. Take a look at the actions of the Earth Liberation Front or the people that break into laboratories doing research with animal subjects.
As for the question as to why other Muslims are not doing anything about it, the basic structure of Islam is not as hierarchical as most Christian belief in the Western countries. There are two major factions, Sunni and Shia, that have active hostilities going back to the founding of the religion. "Oh, one of those Sunni got killed? Tch, tch, too bad. Please pass me one of those rolls."
Within those factions, there is no real structure like, say, the Catholic Church. People tend to follow the teachings and interpretation of a religious leader they respect. This can cause additional fractioning when the leaders' viewpoints conflict. So you can easily have a situation where one group is saying that all foreigners should leave the country while another group is saying that maybe they can stay but only if they behave themselves.
This ends up becoming very difficult for a unified opinion. It also makes it difficult for Western countries to deal with problems in the Middle East because you end up dealing with multiple entities.
My opinion, though, is that a lot of these terrorists are more motivated by personal power or a resentment of outside powers interfering with their countries rather than any religious justification. They invoke Muslim teachings as a means of justifying their actions and to sway people into providing tacit support for their actions. They are criminals and should be treated as such by their mneighbors. However, how many times have we heard of people in the US who knew of crimes and did nothing to help the authorities? Nobody's completely innocent of complicity.

It is not the fault of a religion if some people use it as a reason for their actions. Where are the widespread condemantions of those who have carried out massacres because they claim to adhere to a Christian creed? After all Franco in Spain murdered thousands and his followers raped and pillaged their way across Spain 1936-1939 because he claimed he was a Christian and protecting the Church. What about the Lords Resistance Army who have been killing thousands until a recent ceasefire- yet are all Christiand terrorists? More people have been killed by acts of terror by those claiming to be Christians than Muslims over the years. Even here in Northern Ireland we have had two supposedly Christian sides killing each other for years- catholics and Protestants. I am a practicing Catholic and i abhor any form of violence where religion is used as an excuse-you cannot condemn an entire mass of people because of the actions of a few- that is how mistrust escalates and people become fearful and entrenched, and we end up in unsolvable situations. So yes-condemn all of those who kill and maim for any reason- just don't label an entire section because a hate filled media decides to portray them as such.

"TRUE" muslims have no part in terrorism and the killing of innocents, it's just the misguided kids that are brainwashed by rogue clerics that create problems. The rogue clerics say that since Israel is killing innocents in Gaza and Lebanon, it's just to kill innocents that are not muslims. It certainly sounds rediculous from our prospective as westerners. But, in the prospective of a poor hopeless kid with nothing to look forward to, extremism is a way out of the hole. There is nothing in the religion of islam that justifies killing anyone innocent. Islam is the second largest religion in the world (1.3 billion). I honestly think that the use of cluster bombs in Lebanon by the Israelis was a war crime. I think that it is unconstitutional that the us media censor images of violence in the middle east, it just shows how much power the jewish lobby and israeli govt has over the hearts and minds of americans. Terrorism is a disgusting and unreligious practice, but it does not give president bush the right to call all muslims, and let alone the same American muslims that suppored him Facists. Unfortunately the american people are blinded by the jewish control of the press and could not see what the muslims and the rest of the world could see: that the war in iraq would be another vietnam. I've reffered to the jews in a particularly nasty way by saying that they have control of the press and that they are blinding everyday americans, I don't hate jews, I just hate what the Israeli govt is doing to innocent people. I read a story in the newspaper the other day, it said that a family in lebanon had came back from seeking refuge in syria and the two kids decided to play and treasure hunt. They found a metal bomb looking thing and 9 year old Maria picked it up and threw it to 10 year old Adam, as he caught it it blew up, ripping open his stomach, causing his guts to fall. He later said:"I was trying to lean back while running so as to keep mus guts from falling out". Now tell me wether the corrupt israeli govt or the hezbolla militia is doing an honest thing.

The thing that I don't understand is that how both the Bible and the Quran state that their religious text come from their own religious scholars yet both the Bible and the Quran are almost verbatim from the original Jewish text that was written 2400 years before the Bible and 26 hundred years before the Quran. All claim Moses and Abraham as their own. The other thing that I don't understand is that in all of Jewish text, and all the Bible there is not one word about Islam. Yet in Islamic text both the Jewish people and Christians are described as infidels that need to have their heads cut off..that need to submit to Islam or die. After all Mohammad was a very successful warrior in his time. So that I'm sure that all of the love that is talked about in Islamic texts refers to love of other Muslims. I choose to believe in an inclusionary religion about love and following the ten commandments..like do not kill. And what is all of this stuff about the seventy two virgins in Islamic heaven? What do the Islamic women get who go to heaven? And who are the virgins...are they perpetual virgins..what happens after they get used...they are not married so are they then thrown to hell? Seems like not many women in Islamic heaven except those that are there for the mens pleasure momentarily. What a joy it must be to be an Islamic female. No wonder Muslim men must enjoy it. I look forword to being united with my husband when I reach heaven. Where do the faithful wives of Muslim men go when they die? Do they stand in line with the virgins waiting their turn?

you've got a point there, but don't blame the good muslims for not doing anything about it yet. they don't like it one bit either, and they are probably still shocked with what's happening. imagine discovering your kid is dabbling with extremist idealogy? would you report them if you were the parent? what if you didn't know?
i am a christian too, but i understand that it could be really hard for them to just turn their own people in. it's not that simple to walk the talk, you know.
btw, i agree too with the post above me. bad apples exists in ANY religion, islam or christianity.

I tend to agree with you. I don't like to be unfair, but it is very difficult to know which ones you can trust. Some of them have been here for years just waiting for their chance. How are we to know which ones they are? I am a christian, and I really don't like to judge anyone, but at the same time I will keep my eyes open. I hope that doesn't sound terrible, but these are bad times when we all need to be on the lookout. To the ones who are truly peaceful...God bless you.

Islam is a great religion for terrorists because there is hatred for Jews and Christians enshrined right in its pages........
Quran Surah IX:29 Fight against such of those who have been given the scripture (Christians and Jews) as believe not in Allah nor the last day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by his messenger, and follow not the religion of truth until they pay the tribute readily being brought low.
