Left click on the words you want to get rid off hold the left mouse button down and drag over the words you want to get rid of. A black line will come over the words, lift your finger off the mouse and remove the mouse and then use the backspace key button and all will disappear that is blackened. Kind of like what the government does with papers.

Open Find Replace- Hit the return key 7 times in Find. Hit Find now you should see it select the section of spaces. Now enter a single return carriage in replace and then replace the text. Find the next one maunally and once it does hit replace all.

Sorry but you will need to replace the first one or two manually because you are working with carriage returns but the process of one or two will set up the document so replace all finishes the rest.

If this fails replace the first maunally and try hitting F4 this repeats the previous action but watch you don't select text and delete you can always undo at least one action so watch and see if the F4 option can work as well.
