I think it depends on where you are going and how much time you have to get there to make that determination.
Even before Sept 11th I found planes to not be practical in many cases.
But I live in NJ and had to go to Phoenix for a business meeting. The drive would take a few days (which I would have to use my own vacation time for) and my company was willing to pay for a flight. The flight became practical and I asked them to send me out the day before the convention - - they agreed so I got some sightseeing in!

I've switched to bus if I'm not using my motorhome. Train & plane I've been horribly late & missed apointments. I've never been more than a few minutes late while using Greyhound! They are so accomidating & helpful! They keep the busses clean, wich is a big thing. I was on an Amtrak bus that you had to hold your breathe it stank so badly, their excuse was that it was secduled to have the tanks cleaned at the next stop. So, I was on it for 3 hours feeling like I was inside an outhouse.

If I'm traveling distances w/out the motorhome..... It's Greyhound.... all the way!!!

Only because it beats the alternative, which is train, bus or car.

You're trading time for hassles.
