My friend told me that I should never light red (or black) candles in my house because they give off negative energy. Is this true?

I am not sure growing up I was always told you burn a red candle for the person you truly love and the love between the two will grow stronger. Black candles most definitely give off negative energy. Black candles are mostly used by satan worshippers, witches and ordinary people who wish to vex and place hex upon you. Hope my answer help you.

No. Black is just the opposite of white. The only time anything would give off negative energy is if someone with negative energy had been handling it before you have. Though it would be a good idea to burn black with white to create balance (yin and yang). Red is good for courage and strength.

No. that is not true, red candles are said to be for passion.
Lilac or purple candles are for love.
White candles are nutruel.
Yellow candles for career
Pink candles for love also
Blue candles for strength
Black candles i wouldn't burn anyway.

That my friend is superstition, do you want to live in fear? If so then never light a red or black candle in your house Ever again!!! but if you want to be free from unrealistic and irrational fears then go and do just that..and I'm sure you'll notice no difference whatsoever, if you do then its because you expected to - a psychological issue, seriously ppl who say that should see a pyschiatrist...
I was told never open an umbrella indoors - I just laughed and went ahead and did it oooo aren't I brave!! Oh and apparently if a bird shits all over you then thats good luck!! well that is obviously bad luck!! Duh!

Red is associated with Mars and and doing spiritual battle. I wouldn't suggest invoking that type of energy without good

Lanterns, etc with red tint from fabric were used by prostitutes to let customers know they were working. They would put then in the window. I suggest you do not as people may get the wrong idea.
