Because I had this happen to me before and I found out that months later, she started to dislike me and wouldn't "hang out" with me anymore. I really want to be friends with her again. What should I do? And was being friends with her a good idea in the first place?

It really depends on the situation. I am friends with many of my former teachers, professors, and instructors. However, such a relationship should ALWAYS wait until the period of instruction is completely finished!

you should be able to have a friendship with anyone, but crossing that line of student/teacher is tricky. i don't know the age difference but she crossed the line when she hung out with you. people sometimes don't click when the relationship changes from a formal to informal one.
you have or will meet people, who you will like in the beginning and later it just doesn't work out. it could be lack of interest or chemistry. this teacher is no different from people in general. move on, don't pursue this woman for a relationship.
her being your former teacher indicates an age and cultural gap. you are not one of her peers. and what you're not saying is speaking volumes. sounds like you got a bad crush on this woman...let go...move on and deal with your peers.

No ! teachers must assume the role as a " Robot " and teach & only teach in a classroom enviroment. Once the teaching is over the teacher should forget about the pupil...Sad but it has to be done..
