If you've nothing on paper to say you lent the money there is not really very much you can do.

If Nothing Is On Paper I Don't Think So.
They Say You Can Choose Your Friends, But Not Your Family,
Send An E-mail Or Write Her A Letter, Or To Her Hubby, Be Polite Just Say That You Helped Them You Now Need The Help. You Can Only Try.
Good Luck.

If the loan was as a cheque then thats your proof that she had the money; she might try to claim it was a wedding gift. But if the money was a large sum to you on your income, and you also bought her a gift, you stand a good chance of winning your case in the small claims court.
The problem is that if she can't afford to pay you back you'll get it at a fiver a week, and if she defaults you may have to take her back to court.
If this were me I would have got the whole deal in writing and notarised by a solicitor. Take her to the small claims court but expect a lot of grief from the rest of your family for doing it!

Try writing her a letter but don`t be abusive in this letter.Just explain the situation you are in and let her know that she could pay you back in instalments and you could ask her to call you or pop around to see her or you to sit down and discuss payment details. At the end of the day when lending money to family or friends you don`t think of getting it in writing just beware of who you lend money to in the future..........Good luck.

That's a tough one. I don't know if you have any recourse at all. She could claim that it was a gift. Have you tried writing her a letter and indicating in it that the money was a loan and you would like to know if you could work out a repayment schedule? That might help. In the futured...even if it's family, get it in writing!

if there is anyone who will stand as a witness that you let her the money then you can take her to court and if you win your case she will have to payback the court costs too if this is the case you can also claim for interest on the amount she borrowed from you. this is still an option if you don't have a witness however it would make it harder to prove good luck

If it's under £5000 take her to the Small Claims Court. It's a very simple process.

If you can't prove you lent it to her, then it's your word against hers,so I don't think the legal route is much use.You will just have to depend on her concience.Sad your sister is such a bi*ch.
