I do. And there is science to back it up.
Go to my 360, I've posted a number of things there.

I am a Christian, but I do not believe the Bible as a literal text. There are many things in the Bible that I believe are not to be taken literally...the 6-day creation is just one of them.

So, day 1-6 God created everything. As the story goes, on day 7 God rested.

What did God do on the day before #1??
Perhaps God thought, "Hmmm, maybe tomorrow I will do something really, really big. Big enough that it will be discussed through out the ages."

What did God do on day #8?
Perhaps, God thought, "Oh God, I mean, Oh Me, what have I done?? I just complicated my life by creating something I now have to take care of. Life was so simple for me just last week!!!"

Sarcasm is added for effect, but do you see that rather than being a literal account of creation, Genesis is a story that relates the awesome power of God that most Christians do believe.

I don't. I believe in seven days of creation. As the seventh day was also created as a day of rest or so-called sabbath. That is where we get to have seven days in a week. A month can be accounted because of one circle of the moon. A year because of one circle of the earth around the sun. The weekly cycle, however, can not be accounted anywhere except in the seven days of creation.

Take care.

When God spoke of "creation" He did not speak of creating the earth and the universe. That is why earth is more than 6,000 years old. Thus, the bible and science do not actually contradict. It just lacks the understanding of some that they think the bible contradicts science. Read your bible again and you will notice that the earth was already created ( ...the earth was formless and void and the spirit of God hovered over the waters....) When God spoke of Creation He meant something like a "re-creation" of the earth. More of the creation of the human race and all that would be in his generation. This was a time much later than the beginning of the so-called creation of the universe and the planets.

Well it was a literal day alright because of the weekly cycle we have adopted.

It's possible, but there is no reason that I have to believe that it happened literally that way, especially considering there is evidence that would suggest that it didn't.

I am a Catholic. Catholics do believe:
1) That God created the universe and all things
2) That man is created in the image of God
3) Even if man's body evolved, God still created man, because he created the process of evolution, and his providence guided it to give rise to the human race
4) Whatever the origin of man's bodily form, his soul is a special creation of God; it is not the result of an evolutionary process.
5) Our original parents were created in a state of perfect happines, a state of "holiness and justice"
6) Their obedience was tested and they transgressed the divine law at the prompting of the devil.
7) They lost the supernatural gifts given to the human race by God at creation.
8) This state of original sin was passed on to their offspring.
9) They were promised a redeemer who would restore mankind's relationship with God.

I believe it has to be a 24hr day because the order of the creation would not have survived. Read Genesis and look at the order. The plants need the sun to survive, based on the order this could not have been longer than 24hr.

The Bible says that a day in the eyes of God is like 1000 yrs. Why not a billion yrs? There was darkness on the face of the deep in the beginning. So there was no sun to judge what a day was as we see it today.
God's days and ours are not the same. Time has no meaning to God. That is why I believe that evolution is possible. Altho possible. It was still done by God.
I hope this answers your question.

First you must understand the omnipotence of God, after that, you really have no questions. God is God of the universe, not the god of your mind. You can only think in human terms, in which a day containing only 24 hours would hardly be enough time to create the world, literally 6 days. My God can do all things. Time as we know it is no barrier. I know this is hard for you to understand, but after inviting Him to be Lord of your life, you will.

I do not believe in a literal 6 day creation.

The 6 days could have lasted 4.6 (or 14, or 100, or inifinite) Billion years for all we know.

I believe God created the world in seven days, including the day He rested. However, we must realise that God's "one day" in spiritual or heavenly realms, might now be the one day that we know of now. It could be equivalent to 7000 or 70000 years for all we know, but God is omnipresence and omnipotent.

We will never know, but then is it relevant?

God says we walk by faith, not by sight. But in this case, with our sight, we can see the beautiful creations He had made for us.

A beautiful earth for us to call home.

My advice is do not ponder about the creation, just know, God created it for you and me, and we should take care of it.

Praise His Wonderful Name

George Burns put it best in the movie "Oh, God!" when he said. 'my days are a little longer than yours, when I got up this morning DaVinci was throwing apples off some tower' or something of that nature. Days are measured in one revolution of the Earth, how were they measured while the Earth was being created? I believe what the parable you are referring to means is that we must take the time to rest or our bodies will not work the way God intended them to.

No, but I do what the Bible said The Lord did one day a week. If I ever actually have a Sunday off, I rest. I don't get up early and get all dressed up and go listen to speeches.
