There are many dog breeds that would work, whichever breed you get go for temperement, rather than looks..A crossbreed is very much a consideration for you ( Like a labradoodle ) Consider a breed which would fit in with your lifestyle. ie. Bigger dogs require much more room & exercise etc. Do your children know how to treat a dog? There are way too many possible parameters..you need to make a list of pros & cons.Keep in mind what you can offer a dog.....Please research well before proceeding... Good luck

Labrador Retrievers are the best. They are highly trainable, the most lovable dogs, and are protective over their family. They naturally love water and are great to swim with. They are very versatile and are great in all climates. Yes they shed but not as much as the Golden's. But you did say you wanted a dog for all climates. Even though I am not a fan of Poodles they do not shed and are said to highly intelligent.

Once you have decided on the dog you want, find a good breeder near you. Pet stores are mostly supplied by puppy mills and you have to be careful when purchasing over the internet some companies take your money never delivering the dog while others offer lifetime guarantees which is clearly a sales tactic. Do your research and you will be glad you did.

Well, a great dog, in my opinion, is a Golden Retreiver. If you have small children, don't get a puppy, as they can be very overexcited. But they will guard you to the death, since they just want to please. My dog doesn't shed too much, but there are anti-shedding creams and shampoos that can help as well. Goldens are incredibly sweet and easy to train, and I'm sure you've seen pictures. They're so fluffy!!!

I highly recommend Goldens. THey are WONDERFUL...

A Lab would probably work well. I have a dog with lab in it and it's great! It's not much of a gaurd dog though, but we think that's because it was abused as a puppy.

Better get a stuffed dog, because you want a perfect dog with no problems and there is no such thing. Or get an adult that is already potty trained, and used ti kids.Maybe an older cocker spaniel.
