I know that becoming an Rn is stressful enough from other ppl's opinions, but i just want to know if it is even more stressful if someone is a nurse practitioner. i would luv to hear from an actual nurse practitioner who has experienced both. !

I'm not a nurse practitioner, but I would imagine that being one would be more stressful. A nurse practitioner is one step between an RN and a doctor. They have more responsibility. In some remote towns a nurse practitioner will actually do the role of a doctor if there aren't any available. An RN is probably a lot busier running around the ward however. I guess it depends on what is stressful for you. Responsibility, or being overworked and run off your feet.

A nurse practitioner has their own patients. They have a lot of autonomy and could make a mistake that would seriously screw something up. Some people might find this very stressful.

Regular nurses often say that they find their work stressful because they see a problem, know from experience--not training--that a certain course of treatment should be applied, and the doctor doesn't do it.

So they can both be stressful, but the question is, would you rather be in control or not.

Both of them equally, except that the nurse practitioner can play doctor and see patients while the RN busts his/her rear end the entire shift.
