School does not provide any nessesary socialization unless what you want to intentionally expose your kids to peer pressure, drugs, etc etc.

Homeschoolers learn many good skills for their future lives such as being more independent, learning to study on their own.
I also think at the end their education is more "well rounded" since instead of learning the same things everyone else learns in school, they learn what they are interested in, and in their own pace, so at the end they actually understand the material they learn!

Also, on the subject of socialization homeschoolers tend to make more tight bonds with other kids because they actually have time during their day to do things with their friends.

And for conclusion ... :-)
did you ever think how much time in wasted in public school??? a credit is worth 80 hours, and in school it is divided to a certain amount each year. This means that no matter how many hours you actually spent on something you wikk get the same amount of credits as everyone else. As a homeschooler however each hour counts, you can graduate with 20 more credits then other kids, which eventually looks way better to prospective colleges!

Because your children can be taught according to your own personal belief system, and can be sheltered from influences that you do not approve of. Whether you are a fundamentalist, a humanist, or someone who celebrates the virtues of your ethnicity, home schooling will allow you to impart to your children the values you hold dear, which, in the end, is the American way.

Far too many compromises are made for reasons having nothing to do with education in the public school system. This process has led to a system where the overriding philosophy is so weak, vague and uncentered that all manor of social decline is not only tolerated, it is encouraged. Our children emerge from this system with no moral compass, very little sense of right and wrong, and a profound inability to make sensible decisions about what is, in the end, best for them and the nation.

Home school is not always the best you or your parent can become laxed and not give as much to the work as you need to or your parent may not even know enough to teach you. Besides you need social development these kids who are takin out of school because there picked on will never be able to survive in the work world if they run away when something gets to hard and as far as individual attention a child needs to be able to pick up on things and learn without someone holding their hand and walking them through everystep.

I think it's the best way for my child because she gets individualized attention and learns more than the average student her age. She never has to share the computer and can still be socialized by going on outings and doing community service. And she doesn't have the distractions, (boys, fights, gossip, etc.) that traditional schools have.

It isn't best, it is different. You miss interacting with people who have different beliefs and knowledge than you. They have different home lifes and ways of doing things. You learne to deal with others who are diffent just like you need to in life and home schooling just can not do that. No matter how good the person doing the home schooling it dosen't prepare you for life.

IT'S NOT!

Home schooling does not provide children with the social skills they need to be successful in the work place. It does not provide a "well-rounded" education. You need the "enrichment" type classes, taught by teachers who are experts in their area, and teach with various methods. You need social activities like clubs and athletics.

No parent is an expert in every academic area either. I've never met someone who could, by themselves, successfully teach high levels of math, science, english, history, govt, computers, etc..
